Education City

Throughout this year, the children at Kozy have had access to a website named Education City.  Education City is a site that helps children develop skills in reading, math, science, and language arts in a fun, interactive way.  I am happy to announce that students now have access to Education City while at home.  Inside your child's folder tonight you will find a sheet explaining the site. At the bottom of the page, you will find your child's individual login information.

Family Dance Baskets

It's that time of year again!  Like last year, Kozy is asking parents to donate items for a grade level basket that will be raffled off at our family dance.  Each grade level has been assigned a different theme, third grade is "Wrap it Up."

Please bring in items such as gift bags, ribbon, bows, and wrapping paper.  Items will be collected and assembled into baskets on February 3. Please have your items in by that time.

Report Cards

Watch your child's folder on Friday, report cards will be sent home that day.  Please take some time to review the cards.  There is a great deal of information on the cards and if you have any questions about them, please contact me.

Volcanoes!

To the excitement of all, yesterday the students finished erupting their volcanoes! The students did an amazing job.  Many students created elaborate scenes to go with their volcanoes and a few experiemented with Mentos volcanoes or other unusual ingredients.  Kudos to all of the students and a special thank you to the parents for helping out at home.  To see more pictures, visit: https://picasaweb.google.com/jmborzick/2012VolcanoProject

Winter Concert

The Kosciuszko winter concert for grades 3-6 is tomorrow at the High School.  The concert starts at 6:30pm, but students are asked to meet in the cafeteria by 6:15.

MAP Testing

MAP testing at Kozy begins again this week.  Students can't study for the test, but they can prepare by eating a good breakfast and getting plenty of sleep.  Please remind your child to try his/her hardest.

Because the test is on the computer, it has the ability to change the difficulty of the questions.  Each time a student gets a question correct, the comptuer will increase the difficulty of the question. If a student gets it wrong, the computer will decrease the difficulty.  By the end of the test the computer should have determined each child's level.  Given the nature of the test even the brightest student in the school will have difficulty with one or more the questions and students should not become discouraged.

Rm. 200's schedule is as follows:
Jan 11-12:45 Reading
Jan 18-12:45 Language Arts
Jan 19-10:00 Math
