Lollipop Sale!
There will be a lollipop sale before and after school next week. Visit the first floor hallway on Tuesday, October 16 and Friday, October 19 and choose from the following flavors:- Strawbanna Blast
- Black Razzelberry
- Amped Up Apple
- Wacky Watermelon
- Wild Blue Razz
- Orange Mango Mania
All lollipops are 50 cents.

Today Kozy launched it's annual fund raiser. Please take a moment today to read through the materials and consider asking family and friends to help support our school.

Friday Wrap-up
I can't believe the first week of May is over, I don't know where the school year went, but it's going far to quickly.
The children did a great job this week. Despite the end of the year firmly sitting in their sight and having the last week off of school, the students have really focused this week and worked hard.
In reading this week, our focus was identifying the main ideas and details of nonfiction texts. We began this by reading about Shackleton's journey to Antarctica and continued by reading a book about animal camouflage. While reading this books we stopped after each section and identified what the author most wanted us to learn.
In science the students completed the second part of their blog posts on the national parks. The students researched the organisms that live in their respective parks and then wrote a brief passage about them. Be sure to follow the links to the right.
The students have really done well in math this year. As we make this final push towards June, we are going to be covering two things. First, the students who need to, will be spending time reviewing addition and subtraction with regrouping. We have also begun working on double digit multiplication.
Finally, there have been many permission slips and fees due this week. Please check to make sure you have submitted the following:

Book Fair
This week, Kozy is hosting it's second book fair of the year. The fair will be open after school each day this week until 4 pm. This is a buy one-get one sale and there are many wonderful titles to choose from.

Recycling
Kozy can earn money collecting your trash! Please bring in your empty print cartridges (laser or inkjet) as well as old laptops, iPods, and cell phones. For every item brought in, Kozy will earn money to help support the great things we do at this school.
Items can be sent to school with your child or dropped off in the collection boxes on the office counter and in the hallway across from the first grade classrooms.
